The paper describes problems, challenges and research experiences of the most recent projects of digitization of Sienese sources by historians. In this framework, we look at tax records, in particular those of the fifteenth century, as a laboratory in which to think of a common ground. The main goal is to collect data and to cross-reference them with information coming from other sources, so that we can fill possible gaps.
