The paper focuses on conservation and restoration methods and objectives as well as on the imaging procedures in use at the Vatican Library. The two historic laboratories in charge of the conservation and reproduction of the Library’s manuscripts are responsible for maintaining the physical integrity of the volumes and for reproducing and investigating texts and unveiled contents. Scientific approaches and technologies of interventions of both labs are illustrated through appropriate examples.
