Abstract

Although artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence have outstanding achievements, evaluating their possibilities and drawbacks is still problematic. This article analyzes the relationships between authorship, creativity, and artificial intelligence in art and education. The difficulty in understanding such issues is integrating humanities with computer science and avoiding, through a systemic perspective, the limits of technocentric thinking. Keeping this in mind, we will discuss the problem of the death of the author and creativity in postmodern art, the peculiar properties of digital media, the limits of computational processes, and artificial intelligence methods. We will explain why artificial intelligence and its users can not be considered authors. This is because to be considered an author, the development of original aesthetic principles, artistic techniques, proprietary digital applications, and site-specific interactive processes are paramount, precisely something that artificial intelligence can not provide. With this study, we hope to contribute to sustainable and inclusive digital development and improve educational methods' design without technocentric and economic biases.
